Jeremiah 17:7-8

"Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots
by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought,
for it does not cease to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:7-8

Ditch Diggin' and Strawberry Pickin'

We've been digging a ditch for over a month now due to some water issues around the house, but we finally made it to the road/ ditch this past week! Yay!
And if anyone needs a good pic-axer give them my number. I'm quite good at it. =)

I wonder if the neighbor in the white car has any idea that they photo bombed a cute photo. grrrr...

The damn pollen kept creating dams. Dam pollen!!

Last weekend some friends of ours introduced us to Stewart Farms to do some strawberry picking. It was in the middle of nowhere, but the owners were the nicest people. We'll go back for pumpkins this fall for sure!
Adelaide loved it! The strawberries were soooo good! We ate a bucket of them in 48 hours. =)
So, she didn't want to take a picture...

Lillian fell asleep for half of it so she enjoyed herself.

These are Adelaide's friends, Grayson and Madelyn.

 Cute old lady rocker...

I hope these kiddos take a pic together like this when they're 80. It's perfect.

My Trailblazers

It’s not always necessary to blaze your own trail. Sometimes it’s best to follow the one that’s been paved before you. Mother’s Day always makes me think of my mom, Serge’s mom, and anyone else who has played a mom-type role in my life. We are grateful for them. And they, no doubt, are thinking about their moms on Mother’s Day… which leads me to also think about their moms and how who they were shapes who our moms are… just as who our moms are, shape us. I didn’t get to meet Grandma Rosalie (Serge’s mom’s mom) and Serge didn’t get to meet Grandma Adelaide (my mom’s mom). It’s a huge loss on both ends. I’m convinced of that. So sad. I like to imagine my Grandma at our wedding, meeting our kids etc… and likewise do the same with Grandma Rosalie. I imagine that she would like me and Lord knows Grandma Addie would adore Serge. I hate that we didn’t get to meet each other’s Grandmas (these two), our mom’s moms, two women that I know were good moms, that shaped the way our moms were good moms to us. I was a part of a Bible study a few years ago that asked me to reflect on some of my earliest years in my life and the people around me that showed the love of Christ to me and my Grandma was one of the first that I wrote down. She was caring, gracious, loving. And I’ve heard enough stories of Grandma Rosalie to know that she was the same to those around her. I miss my Grandma often and oddly miss Grandma Rosalie though we haven’t met.
…BUT

We have our moms. More than likely following the actions, words, hearts of their moms, just as I mirror my mom. Like when I was little I remember begging for Bubbalicious and mom saying no and of course I said my kids will always have that stuff… ha! Yea right! Not a chance! Of course that’s a lighter side to the ways I follow her trail. But what I’ve been thinking about this mother’s day is how much Serge gets to know my Grandma through my mom and how, I too, get to know his Grandma through his mom. Especially through watching them be grandmas to our children we get a picture of the grandmas each of us had, love, and miss. But they’re right here with us, through our moms following their faithful, loving trail of caring for those around them. I’m convinced that our kiddos have THE best grandparents in the world and that someday if they are asked to reflect on someone in life that has shown them the love of Christ they will no doubt think of their grandmothers, our moms. No need to blaze my own trail as a mom, just follow the one that’s been paved before. (I sure hope to.)
