Father's Day 2014
And Adelaide's 3rd Birthday!
Well, it's been too long to post pictures from the past 6 months... so I just included a few from the past month. :)
So I'm not sure if I should start with our most exciting recent news and work back or start a few months back and work forward.... hmm...
Let's start back, not back to my last post in January, but just back a bit... April or so. Back in April we found out I was pregnant, am now at 17 weeks tomorrow and totally thinking it's a boy! I was miserable for about 12 weeks with this one and about 1 week with Adelaide and while that may indicate nothing, the heart rate is also significantly lower... so we'll see if my gut and these old wives' tales indicators are right, at the end of this month. I do often refer to the baby as a "she" though, but that's probably because of my surroundings. :)
THEN, also in April, our sweet Maui died, right in our front yard, of a heart attack, we think. While we loved her bunches, it was a big decision on whether or not to get another dog with our baby news. We went back and forth and back and forth and, well, while we're all dog lovers in this house, Serge is a mega dog lover and realllly wanted another dog, so I said if he could find one already potty trained, priced right, and a golden doodle then ok.... so he found one, of course, negotiated with the poor guy for a month and we got Boomer in May. Boomer is now 6, almost 7, months old and he's actually close to perfect. It's kind of weird to have a good dog after having Maui... I mean, recalling Maui's puppy years anyway. It's like he's been here all along. He's kind of shy with new people, which, after having many embarassing Maui greeting memories, it's kind of nice. He hasn't goosed a single person... yet. :)
THEN, we had 2 ER visits, one in May, one in June- one for Lillian and one for Adelaide. We had suspected Lillian to be allergic to eggs and just always avoided them... and turns out she is severely allergic to eggs. She seemed like she was going to pass out in Serge's arms so we took her in and she instantly threw up everything all over the triage floor. Atleast we know now and just carry the talking epipen and benadryl around with us everywhere we go. No incredible edible eggs for Lil-ba-dil. Then it was Adelaide's turn... in her words, "I was being a monkey jumpin on the bed..." This is what she tells everyone when they ask what happened to her arm (her brace is pictured above). She wore a cast for 9 or 10 days and then the brace since then which should be removed in the next week or so. She's done remarkable with it, as if nothing ever happened. Her mosquito bites bother her more than her wrist ever did! So that's been the busy past couple of months... not to mention ongoing house reno projects.
Then... less than two weeks ago now we received even bigger news... We received a call from our adoption lawyer and found out that Lillian's birthmom is due July 22 with a baby girl and asked if we would adopt her... So after lots of prayer, quickly, we said yes! God has directed both Serge and I's hearts to say yes to this, and overwhelmingly so. Our family and friends have been so supportive and helpful and excited, which has been super encouraging to us. Of course there have been a few neighbors, customers etc. to quickly tell us how crazy we are (and I agree) and "are you sure you can handle all that?" And we say, of course we can't!... We'd be so arrogant to say we can handle 4 kids under 3.5! ;) However, we serve a really big God that is directing our hearts, our steps, as we go along... and He has placed us in really great families and a really sweet, caring community, and will continue to draw us to Himself, making us more like Him through this... SO, we are very excited to bring home 2 new little ones within 6 months!!! We had no idea our December baby would be our 4th! We will once again travel to Alabama when the baby is born where we'll stay for 1-2 weeks until all paperwork clears. So...... be praying for us as we enter a newborn season to be followed by another, all amongst a busy ice cream season. Life with the Guillot's- we try not to be too boring around here. :)
